HOW TO LINK PAN AND AADHAAR

Steps to Link Aadhaar and PAN

The linking of PAN and Aadhaar is mandatory by all the income tax assesse for filing income tax returns online through efiling portal.

The due date for linking PAN with aadhaar has been extended many times and the current due date is 31.12.2019 for the linking of PAN and Aadhaar. Here we will discuss about the  steps to link aadhaar and PAN .

Option 1 :Linking of PAN and Aadhaar without Login into income tax portal.

Step 1 : Visit www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2 :In the left Tab , under Quick Links Select Link Aadhaar

Step 3 : Enter the details in the next screen :

  • PAN Number of the assesee
  • Aadhaar number of the assessee
  • Name as per the Aadhar Card . It should match exactly with the printed name on aadhaar card.

If only Year of Birth is given in aadhaar , then check the box “I Have only  year of birth in Aadhaar Card”

Step 4 :Now enter the captcha as given in the screen

Step 5 : Click Link aadhaar after entering the details.

The verification will be done by UIDAI and after verification , success message will be sent to the registered email id with the portal.

Option 2 : Linking of PAN with Aadhaar  by Login into the income tax portal.

For this you will have to first register in the income tax portal by providing the details of the Assessee.

Step 1 :If already Registered , Login with the user ID (The PAN of the assesee) and password into the efiling portal of income tax at www.incometaxefiling.gov.in

Step 2 :Once loggin , go to the Profile Settings section in the menu tab and select Link Aadhaar option in the drop down.

Step 3 :Some details such as Name of the assessee , date of birth , and gender of the assessee will be auto filed as per the details submitted at the time of registering with the income tax portal.

Step 4 :Verify the details in the screen that has been auto populated and the details should exactly match with the details as mentioned in the aadhaar card

Step 5 :If the details are matched , then enter Aadhaar number and Name as per aadhaar number  .

Step 6 :If you have only year of birth in the aadhaar , then check the box “I have only year of birth in Aadhaar Card .

Step 7 :After that Click on Link Aadhaar button .

If everything is correct, a message will pop up confirming that the PAN and Aadhaar has been successfully linked .

Option 3 : Linking of PAN and Aadhaar through SMS

Linking of PAN and Aadhaar can be done through SMS also.Simply send SMS to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number in the following format :

UIDPAN<SPACE><12 DIGIT AADHAAR NUMBER><SPACE><10 DIGIT PAN>

EXAMPLE UIDPAN 123456789123 ALKPM2123M
